1) Charles Eames's Model
No 670 ( Lounge Chair & Ottoman )
Our Lounge Chairs
are made to match the high standards of the clientele for this furniture.
It is a true luxury chair, yet its luxury is not determined by the
materials it is made of, but more by the way these materials are combined
and crafted in small series.
Plywood is plywood, which by itself is not the most expensive material,
even if it is veneered with real redwood. The combination is what
makes the extravagance, plus the material has proven its ruggedness
and durability.
Another such example: The sand cast aluminium
bases (the molds are made of sand) reveal the grainy structure of
the sand, except for the hand polished upper surfaces of the base.
Please note that these molds are hand made as well and can't be
used very often before they need replacing.
Dimension
80x60x80 cm
65x60x44 cm
(WxDxH)

Additional
Size Option.
With the
ability to specify a Highback option for those over 6 feet tall, the
Brigger Flip-Flops are built to fit just about anyone comfortably
However, if you are less than 5'4" you may have trouble pushing
your Flip-flop back to the reclined position. This could require the
"short seat" option. If you think you necessitate these
modifications, please select these options while shopping and request
modification.
3) La-Z-Boy Chair Oasis MK11
In
the 1930s, when cousins Edward M. Knabusch and Edwin
J. Shoemaker of Monroe started to upholster their reclining wood-slat
porch chair, the new and improved chair became an instant hit --
but it needed a name. Combining promotion with necessity, the partners
held a contest. Entries included Sit-N-Snooze, Slack-Back, Comfort
Carrier and La-Z-Boy, the clear winner.
Today, La-Z-Boy packs their specialty recliners with such unique
features as built-in storage compartments, heat and massage units,
speaker phones, answering machines, thermo-electric coolers, laptop
computer modems and a luxury lift component.
1920s:
Knabusch, the advertising man, and Shoemaker, the mechanical genius,
create a unique chair made of wood slats designed for "nature's
way of relaxing." (See above.) 1930s:
A customer suggests "the two Eds" upholster their innovation
and market it as a year-round piece. 1940s:
The recliner is offered with a matching footstool, and, because
of its success, the partners create a separate La-Z-Boy division
of their company. 1950s:
The Hi-Lo Matic is introduced for "comfort and convenience."
For $10, you could get a special vibrating feature called the Tranquillator.
Bing Crosby and his family were featured in La-Z-Boy ads. 1960s:
Women are featured in ads with the line, "Make it the most
comfortable part of her day." The Sofette, a dual reclining
love seat, and a rocker recliner are introduced. 1970s:
The space-saving Reclina-Way is introduced, and a series of celebrities,
including Joe Namath, Don Shula, Detroit Lion Alex Karras, Uncle
Sam, Johnny Carson, Ed McMahon and Jim Backus (along with Mr. Magoo),
are used in ads. 1980s:
La-Z-Boy enters the motion furniture area with Lectra-Lounger. 1990s:
Innovative recliners such as the Haven with an Airflex massage system
and the Explorer with WebTV access are introduced.
Internet junkies and couch potatoes unite! There is reason to celebrate.
La-Z-Boy Inc. and WebTV have come together to create the most important
TV accessory since the remote control. The Explorer recliner combines
the comfort of a La-Z-Boy with the user-friendly Internet interface
of WebTV. And it even has a built-in cupholder to boot.
It is as comfortable and relaxing as it looks. It's a plush, black
leather chair which comes in two parts - the base unit including
the arms and the back which slots in, but halfway through doing
that you'll need to connect the various plugs and sockets together
- there's two connectors which link the separate parts of the chair
and two power connections, each with their own separate supply,
so you'll need to make sure you have two plug sockets free at all
times to get the full benefit from the chair. Note that you should
never sit on the arms of the chair as they are not built to stand
excessive weight.
As you'll see in the picture, there's a wooden handle on the right-hand
side. This is used to pull the chair back for three stages of reclining,
each noted by a click when you reach them. In each position, you
can thrust yourself back in the seat so it stretches out just that
little bit further.
Features
Special
Features
Under the left-hand arm is the Thermo-electric
Cooler, designed to keep your favourite pre-chilled food and beverage
items cold and conveniently located. It's a device that should only
be used for up to a few hours at a time and not for items that are
likely to leak out since there is no drainage tray within. Once
the cooler is closed, there are two cup-holders available for when
you've had enough exercise moving the can to your lips.
The phone located under the right-hand arm is an Audioline Sensor
150 with all the usual functions of an easy-to-use handset such
as Last-Number Redial, Caller ID display - so you can check who's
ringing up before answering, a 10-member phone book and a call log
that holds details for the last 15 calls that came in, with an option
to call any of these people back. A function called "Least
Cost Routing" is also available, which allows you to place
a code automatically in front of every number so it goes via a different
network, eg. so you could route calls via SkyTalk or Freeserve Unlimited
instead of BT.
The piece de resistance of the Oasis Recliner is, without a doubt,
the Relaxor - a 6-point massager for the upper-back, lower-back
and your bum. Any combination of the three can be in use at any
one time and it can be made to hum away constantly, or 'pulse' so
that it hums on/off with a variable speed at a rate between half-a-second
to just over a second and also a 'wave' which cycles through the
three massage sections (2 points each) at a speed which is also
as variable.
As well as the speed control, other ones allow you to vary the intensity
of the massage and apply two degrees of heat.
Note that the massager can be used when the chair is in any position,
but it's best experienced when lying back as far as it goes. The
massager can also be set for 15-minute and 30-minute durations.
There's no permanently-on setting, presumably in case you fall asleep
while relaxing (which is very easily done!)
