5) Eye Trek FMD-700

|
|
|
In the late fifties and early sixties, producer William Castle
created sensationalistic gimmicks to involve audiences in his films.
Each Castle spectacular premiered an exciting "innovation"
to draw audiences in: "House on Haunted Hill" (1959) had
inflatable skeletons soar over the audience; "13 Ghosts"
(1960) used special viewing glasses to reveal spectres on the screen;
and with "The Tingler," Castle wired up movie seats to
give the audience electric shocks to simulate the attack of the
title creature.
Movies have come a long way technically in the 43 years since Castle
hauled out gimmicks to lure the audiences to the theatres, but one
thing hasn't changed: moviegoers want to get a bigger, more immersive
experience, even if the "theaters" happen to be their
living rooms or dens.
Think of it as a 62-inch big-screen the size of a pair of sunglasses.
Connect Olympus's Eye-Trek FMD-700 up to your VCR, DVD, camcorder,
game console, or PC, slide on your goggles, and immerse yourself
in the action.
The FMD-700 makes any NTSC television signal look like a 52-inch
big-screen picture as viewed from a distance of 6-1/2 feet, creating
the feeling of a personal "home theater." Inside the wraparound
goggles, Olympus brings picture quality equivalent to 720,000 pixels
with horizontal resolution of more than 500 lines. The FMD-700 also
delivers powerful surround-sound, with the option of hooking up
your own headphones.
Frequent business travelers can get on plane or train with the new
Eye-Trek FMD-700 comfortably stowed in a briefcase. An RGB port
connects Eye-Trek to a computer, giving users the luxury of watching
DVD movies and playing PC games in privacy.

7) ButtKicker 2

If you already have comfortable furniture
in your media room and want to take things to the next level, get
ready for the ButtKicker 2, the award-winning tactile transducer
that's found in music venues, amusement parks and theaters around
the world.
The ButtKicker 2 has been created with home theater in mind, allowing
low-frequency sound such as thunderstorms, rocket launches, and
explosions, to be felt without increasing the system's volume to
ear-splitting levels. Hide the ButtKicker 2 inside a chair or a
family room couch, or underneath a suspended wood floor, and the
softball-sized device recreates the feel of a movie theatre or live
concert without you having to turn up the subwoofer.
Designed by musicians and studio engineers, the ButtKicker 2 is
also musically accurate, with a tight "on-the-beat" response
that is as good for music as it is for movie special effects. It
works with any sound system, from CD players to home theaters to
car stereos.
